Pardo celebrates 150 years of history and literary heritage

The rural settlement of Pardo, located in the Las Flores district of Buenos Aires province, is celebrating its 150th anniversary. The small community of approximately 200 inhabitants holds historical significance due to its connection with major figures of Hispanic American literature.

Renowned writers Adolfo Bioy Casares and Jorge Luis Borges frequently visited the area, fostering a friendship that contributed to the cultural landscape of Argentina. Other notable literary figures associated with this circle include Silvina Ocampo, Victoria Ocampo, and Alejandra Pizarnik.

The town is recognized for its slow tourism and community-based experiences, featuring streets named after local trees such as Los Pinos and Las Acacias. Celebrations marking the sesquicentennial are scheduled for mid-September.
