Pardubice and Prague set to build major new sports arenas

Entrepreneur Petr Dědek is planning a world‑class ice‑hockey arena in Pardubice that would seat more than 22,000 spectators, making it the largest of its kind. He has already invested over 1 billion CZK of his own money and estimates total costs at about 12 billion CZK, with bank financing already arranged. The project awaits final permits and aims to begin construction this year, with completion targeted within four years. The site is a former landfill that will be cleared before building.

In Prague, Sparta football club and the municipal part Prague 4 have signed a memorandum to develop a new sports complex in the Krč district. The plan includes a 5,000‑seat stadium that meets UEFA standards, two training pitches and supporting facilities. Sparta expects the investment to be around 1 billion CZK and hopes to open the arena by 2029. The project also involves upgrades to surrounding infrastructure such as sidewalks, cycle paths and a bridge over the Kunratický stream.
