Pardubice hosts international cardiology congress
The third annual CTO&CHIP Czech Challenge, organized by the AGEL Cardiology Center, took place in Pardubice, Czech Republic. The international congress focused on the most complex coronary artery procedures, specifically addressing chronic total occlusions (CTO) and high-risk patients (CHIP).
A key feature of the event was the live broadcast of difficult surgical procedures in real time. Specialists in Pardubice connected with operating rooms in Australia and Puerto Rico to share expertise and observe complex cases. These live sessions demonstrated techniques for clearing long-term blocked arteries, which previously often required invasive bypass surgery.
According to organizer Vojtěch Novotný, success rates for treating these heavily calcified or closed vessels have risen from 60 to 70 percent in recent decades to as high as 90 percent among experienced specialists. This progress is attributed to advanced technology, improved physician training, and international collaboration.
