Pardubice region implements river management and revitalization projects

Local authorities in the Pardubice region are focusing on river management and revitalization projects to mitigate flood risks and manage water flow.

In Barchov na Pardubicku, the municipality plans to restore the Podolský stream by removing its concrete bed and creating natural meanders. Mayor Iva Krebsová stated the project aims to provide flood protection and create a recreational area, including a new pond and walking paths. The revitalization, which the municipality purchased from Povodí Labe, is expected to cost up to five million CZK, with work potentially starting in September.

In Pardubice, local representatives are calling for the cleaning of sediment from the Bylanka stream to improve water flow, particularly during dry periods. While Povodí Labe performs regular maintenance such as grass cutting, officials noted that unauthorized landscaping by residents near the protective zone may be obstructing water drainage and increasing flood risks.
