Pardubice waterfront reconstruction delayed until November

The reconstruction of Wernerovo nábřeží in the historic center of Pardubice has been delayed and is now expected to continue until the end of November. The project, which was originally scheduled for completion in late August, faced significant setbacks after workers discovered serious structural issues.

During a detailed inspection, the construction firm Inženýrské stavby Mencl found that the embankment wall near the imperial canal was in such poor condition that it requires complete disassembly and reconstruction. Additionally, the bridge over the canal was found to have exposed reinforcement and damaged arches, necessitating repairs to the masonry, the cracked front wall, and the stone railings.

The project budget has increased by nearly 900,000 CZK due to the additional work, bringing the total cost to approximately 10.9 million CZK. Adolf Vondrka, chairman of the Old Town Pardubice association, suggested that the damage to the bridge may have been caused by heavy waste collection vehicles exceeding the 5.6-ton weight limit.
