Paredes declares mourning after firefighter death

The municipality of Paredes has declared two days of municipal mourning following the death of Eduardo Santos, a 25-year-old firefighter from the Rebordosa Volunteer Firefighters Association. The accident occurred during a training session at the Baltar fire station.

Reports indicate the victim may have been struck by a vehicle during the training exercise. Despite receiving assistance from fellow firefighters and a medical emergency team, the young firefighter suffered cardiac arrest. The municipality has canceled all recreational activities for the mourning period, and flags will be flown at half-mast in honor of his service.
