Parental burnout and personal well-being in adulthood

Parental burnout is a state of prolonged exhaustion resulting from the continuous stress of child-rearing and insufficient recovery time. It is characterized by increased irritability, emotional emptiness, and a diminished ability to find joy in previously enjoyed activities. Modern pressures, including career success, household management, and social media comparisons, often exacerbate this condition.

As individuals age, particularly after the age of 50, priorities often shift from fulfilling external obligations and caring for others toward personal fulfillment and self-care. This transition allows for a greater focus on hobbies, travel, and personal peace, moving away from the constant need to meet societal or familial expectations.
