Parenting insights address maternal emotional labor and child behavior

Research and psychological insights highlight the emotional challenges faced by mothers and the underlying reasons for children's argumentative behavior. Studies from the University of Bath and the University of Melbourne involving 3,000 parents indicate that mothers bear approximately 71% of the mental pressure and emotional regulation within the household. Data from the National Health Commission of China further suggests that mothers handle about 84.6% of the tasks related to soothing and comforting children.

Experts suggest that instead of enduring emotional stress or resorting to physical discipline, mothers should utilize calm dialogue and firm boundaries. Regarding children, argumentative behavior is often not a sign of bad character but a reaction to having their thoughts dismissed or their right to speak taken away. Children who feel unheard may use verbal resistance to assert themselves or seek attention, particularly in environments where parenting relies on imposition or physical punishment.
