Parents and NGOs report school safety concerns in Venezuela

In the state of Monagas, parents and legal representatives from over sixteen educational institutions in the Boquerón parish have formally requested urgent sanitary inspections and fumigation reviews. The group is demanding rigorous health controls before in-person academic activities resume, following reports of medical issues among students, teachers, and staff. Families claim that recent fumigation efforts used chemical substances that caused significant health problems, including respiratory issues.

Separately, in Bolívar state, the NGO Cecodap reported that an armed group has taken control of a Fe y Alegría school in the La Batea community. According to Cecodap coordinator Carlos Trapani, the presence of these individuals has forced children, families, and teachers to flee the area for their safety. The occupation has disrupted education and compromised the school's role as a protective space for indigenous children in the Los Pijiguaos and Las Bateas regions.
