Parents block San Luis Potosí elementary school over staff shortages

Parents at the José Toribio Sánchez Torres elementary school in the Valle de Dalias neighborhood of San Luis Potosí have blocked access to the campus for a second consecutive day. The protest is driven by the removal of the school's director, Irma Trejo, and a teacher named Elba, as well as a critical shortage of teaching staff at the start of the new school year.

Families have placed chains and signs at the entrance demanding the return of both staff members. However, they emphasized that their immediate priority is for educational authorities to fill the vacancies while administrative procedures are finalized. Currently, students are facing overcrowded conditions; for example, third and fourth-grade students are being taught together in a single classroom with approximately 40 pupils. Additionally, the fifth-grade teacher is temporarily performing administrative duties, causing frequent absences from the classroom.
