Parents demand relocation of schools near Dos Bocas refinery

Parents and guardians of students at the ‘Agustín Melgar’ kindergarten and ‘Abías Domínguez’ primary school are demanding the relocation of their children's campuses near the Dos Bocas refinery in Paraíso, Tabasco.

Despite an order from President Claudia Sheinbaum to move the schools to areas less exposed to the operations of the Olmeca-Dos Bocas refinery, 200 days have passed without action. Although the Secretary of Education, Mario Delgado, had previously committed to delivering results by November, construction has not yet begun. Families expressed concerns that the proximity to the Pemex facility poses ongoing risks to the health and lives of the students.
