Parents demand safety reforms in Castelnovo Monti following student accident

Following a serious incident on October 16 where a student was crushed between a bus and a wall at a high school in Castelnovo Monti, local parents and students have issued an open letter demanding immediate action. The accident resulted in the student suffering contusions and two microfractures.

The letter, signed by approximately thirty individuals, is addressed to the transport company Seta, the Municipality of Castelnovo Monti, the Mobility Agency, and other competent institutions. The families are calling for five specific interventions: immediate investigations into the accident and site conditions, reviews of line management and driver training, investigations into previous family reports, effective oversight of outsourced services, and an urgent meeting between parents and authorities to establish clear responsibilities and timelines.

Particular concern has been raised regarding the school courtyard, where hundreds of students navigate between buses and maneuvering areas daily. The families emphasize that student safety should not depend on luck or be treated as a secondary variable in service contracts.
