Sheinbaum requests FGR review of Tamaulipas feminicide case
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has requested the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) to review the legal status of Danna Yanina, an 18-year-old detained in connection with the death of 13-year-old Dafne Zapata. The incident occurred during a summer camp at a militarized academy in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas.
Sheinbaum made the request after meeting with Danna Yanina’s parents, who argue that the young woman may be a victim of the academy's environment rather than a perpetrator. The family has raised concerns regarding irregularities in the investigation and the psychological impact on Danna Yanina.
Meanwhile, the Tamaulipas State Attorney General’s Office confirmed that the trial for the feminicide is ongoing, with hearings currently underway to present evidence and testimony. Investigations continue regarding the academy, and authorities have conducted searches of the institution's premises as they seek other potentially involved individuals.
