Parents of Jovan Jovanović Zmaj Gymnasium students protest potential political appointment

Parents of students at the Jovan Jovanović Zmaj Gymnasium in Novi Sad have expressed strong opposition to recent statements made by Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) official Vladimir Đukanović regarding the school's director, Radivoje P. Stojković.

Đukanović described Stojković as a ‘hero’ on social media and suggested that the director should be entrusted with the Ministry of Education in the future. Parents interpret this as a signal that the ruling party intends to appoint Stojković as the next Minister of Education should the SNS win upcoming elections.

The parents criticized the director's leadership, alleging he has locked in students and teachers, dismissed high-quality professors, and ignored court decisions in favor of party interests. They expressed fear that such political appointments could lead to the degradation of the entire Serbian education system.
