Pariahuanca highway project faces delays and land disputes
The Pariahuanca highway project in Junín, valued at S/327.5 million, faces significant delays and legal complications. After three years of construction, the project has reached only 36% physical progress, falling short of the 60% target expected by May.
A report from the Comptroller's Office indicates that four sections of the road lack effective land availability, despite technical files listing them as available. One critical 10.88-kilometer stretch is currently halted due to property ownership disputes. The contractor, China Gezhouba Group Company Limited Sucursal Perú, has expressed concerns that entering these disputed areas could lead to criminal charges for aggravated usurpation and property damage.
Additionally, a landowner is blocking access to a section between kilometers 69+960 and 70+040, demanding S/400,000 in compensation for 2,000 square meters of agricultural land. The regional governor of Junín, Zósimo Cárdenas Mujés, has four months remaining in his term as the project struggles to meet its objectives.
