Parintins Telehealth Center marks 20 years of service in the Amazon

The Parintins Telehealth Center in the Amazon region has reached its 20th anniversary. Established in 2006, Parintins was the first municipality in Brazil to implement a telehealth nucleus to bridge healthcare gaps caused by vast distances and difficult river travel.

The center currently manages 22 telehealth points: nine in riverside health units (including a fluvial unit), six in urban primary care units, and seven in specialized services. This infrastructure enables teleconsultations, teleinterconsultations, and telediagnosis, connecting local professionals with specialists.

To support expansion, the Ministry of Health provided 10 multimedia telehealth kits, with seven allocated to riverside areas and three to urban areas. Additionally, R$ 1.04 million has been authorized for the center's structuring under the SUS Digital Strategic Action and the Novo PAC programs.
