Paris and Luxembourg announce new urban mobility and cycling plans

Paris has unveiled a new cycling plan for the 2027–2032 period, backed by a 200 million euro budget. The initiative aims to expand the city's cycling network by adding 140 kilometers of new cycle paths and 220 kilometers of two-way cycling lanes. As part of a ‘Vision Zero’ strategy to eliminate serious road injuries and fatalities, the city also plans to secure 420 additional intersections, with the first 56 scheduled for 2027. The plan includes improving connections with neighboring communes, increasing bicycle parking, and implementing measures to prevent heavy vehicle blind-spot accidents.

In Luxembourg City, officials have presented a soft mobility concept as part of the broader City Mobility Plan targeting 2035. Presented by Mobility Alderman Patrick Goldschmidt, the strategy focuses on improving conditions for pedestrians and cyclists through an extended and optimized network. The plan emphasizes the integration of urban development with mobility needs, aiming for a harmonious coexistence of all public space users by enhancing routes within and between neighborhoods and improving links to adjacent municipalities.
