Paris authorities evacuate homeless protesters from Samu social site

Authorities in Paris evacuated approximately 400 homeless individuals from the forecourt of the Samu social de Paris on Thursday, August 13, 2026. The group had occupied the site since July 15 to protest the lack of emergency housing.

The occupation included an estimated 150 minors and several pregnant women. The evacuation was ordered by the Prefecture of Île-de-France and the Police Prefecture, citing public order concerns and sanitary risks, particularly regarding extreme heat. While temporary housing was offered, few individuals accepted the proposals.
