Paris Court Denies Release for Suspect in Louvre Museum Heist

The Paris Court of Appeal has ruled to keep Rachid H., a suspected member of the commando involved in the Louvre Museum heist, in pre-trial detention. The 40-year-old had appealed a previous decision by investigating judges to deny his release.

The theft occurred on October 19, 2025, when thieves used moving equipment and grinders to steal Crown Jewels valued at approximately 88 million euros. Two suspects, Abdoulaye N. and Ghemlamallah A., were arrested in October and admitted to participating in the robbery.

However, recent testimonies have complicated the investigation. The first two suspects claimed that Rachid H. and another individual were not involved in the theft. They also suggested that the mastermind behind the operation participated in the heist and remains at large. Rachid H. denies involvement, claiming he only provided parking keys after being woken by unknown individuals.
