Paris court increases sentences for 2018 terrorist attack accomplices

The Paris Assize Court has increased the prison sentences for two individuals convicted in connection with the 2018 terrorist attacks in Trèbes and Carcassonne. Marine Pequignot, the partner of the attacker Radouane Lakdim, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, while Samir Manaa, who accompanied Lakdim to purchase a knife, received 12 years.

The appeals court upheld the charge of ‘terrorist criminal association,’ a classification that was rejected during the initial trial. Judges noted that Pequignot was aware of her partner’s ‘deadly intentions’ and that Manaa possessed knowledge of Lakdim’s propensity for violence. Both defendants were incarcerated immediately following the verdict.
