Paris Davis: New graphic novel details Medal of Honor heroics

The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) has released a new graphic novel titled ‘Medal of Honor: Paris Davis,’ detailing the heroic actions of former U.S. Army Captain Paris Davis during the Vietnam War.

On June 17-18, 1965, Davis led a 5th Special Forces Group Detachment and a South Vietnamese Regional Force Company during an attack on a Viet Cong camp. Following the initial engagement, Davis and his unit encountered a large North Vietnamese Army force, resulting in 12 to 19 hours of intense combat. Despite being shot twice, Davis refused medical assistance to continue leading and rescuing wounded soldiers. His actions included rescuing three Green Berets and dragging a seriously wounded sergeant to safety under heavy fire.

Davis, who retired as a colonel, was presented with the Medal of Honor by President Joe Biden. The graphic novel, produced by an AUSA team including writer Colin Maxwell and artist Wayne Vansant, is available for free online as part of a series documenting Medal of Honor recipients.
