Paris' De Vie Named World's Best New Cocktail Bar

De Vie, a bar in Paris' Montorgueil district, was awarded the title of best new international cocktail bar at the 20th Spirited Awards presented by the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation. The bar is celebrated for its five‑step seasonal tasting menu, which is served over about ninety minutes with small snacks; the drink portions together equal the volume of roughly three standard cocktails, and a non‑alcoholic version is also offered. Sample menu creations include a strawberry cocktail with oxidised strawberry, fig‑leaf wine and strawberry spirit, a fennel drink with fennel spirit and celery eau de vie, and a rhubarb cocktail made with cryo‑concentrated rhubarb wine and crème fraîche liqueur. Patrons can also order à la carte drinks such as a pepper cocktail with charred pepper spirit and herb‑stem cordial, alongside dishes like yellowtail tartare and agnolotti.

The awards also recognised Satan’s Whiskers in Bethnal Green, London, as the best international cocktail bar, while the overall top prize went to FURA in Singapore, a venue named after the Swedish word for pine that emphasises sustainability by using abundant or invasive ingredients.
