Paris investigation: New suspect indicted in foiled Bank of America plot
A 23-year-old woman has been indicted and placed in pre-trial detention in Paris following her extradition from Belgium. She is suspected of involvement in a foiled terrorist plot targeting the Bank of America headquarters in Paris in late March.
The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office (PNAT) stated the suspect faces charges including criminal terrorist association aimed at preparing destruction via explosives or incendiary substances, as well as the possession and transport of explosives in connection with a terrorist enterprise.
This marks the second Belgian national to be charged in this specific case. In total, six individuals have been indicted in the investigation, five of whom are currently in pre-trial detention. While authorities have suggested the plot may be linked to the pro-Iranian group ‘Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya’ (Hayi), a formal connection has not yet been established. The suspect's lawyer has denied her involvement and announced an immediate appeal.
