Paris opens first boutique dedicated entirely to butter

Le Butter Shop, billed as the first boutique in Paris devoted entirely to butter, has opened near the Eiffel Tower. The shop features 30 different varieties sourced from small family producers in Brittany, the Loire Valley, and northern France.

Owner Erwan Leo offers a wide range of flavors, including savory options like shallot, pepper, seaweed, wild garlic, and lemon with green pepper, as well as sweet varieties such as vanilla, raspberry, strawberry, and chocolate. Customers can purchase quantities ranging from 10-gram pats to one-kilogram blocks, with the option to taste products by the spoonful before buying.

According to the French agriculture ministry, France consumes approximately 8 kilograms of butter per person annually, one of the highest rates in the world. Despite this, the country maintains an obesity rate of 14%, which is below the 19% average for OECD developed nations.
