Paris opens first boutique dedicated to artisanal butter

A new specialty boutique, Le Butter Shop, has opened in Paris, marking the city's first establishment entirely dedicated to butter. The shop offers 30 different varieties sourced from small family producers in Brittany, the Loire Valley, and northern France.

Owner Erwan Leo provides a range of flavors, including savory options like shallot, pepper, seaweed, and garlic, as well as sweet varieties such as vanilla, raspberry, strawberry, and chocolate. Customers are encouraged to taste the products by the spoonful to appreciate the complex flavor profiles, a method Leo compares to wine tasting.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, French citizens consume approximately 8 kilograms of butter per person annually.
