Paris Photo 2026 to celebrate the bicentenary of photography
The 29th edition of Paris Photo, scheduled for November 12 to 15, 2026, at the Grand Palais, will center on the bicentenary of photography. The event aims to explore the relationship between historical photographic processes and contemporary digital transformations.
Key highlights include installations by Thomas Ruff, which span forty years of work from analogue to digital simulations, and presentations of early works by pioneers such as Daguerre, William Henry Fox Talbot, and Anna Atkins. The fair will also feature social and personal histories through works by artists like Merry Alpern and Miguel Ángel Rojas.
In conjunction with these commemorations, various publications are being released through 2026 and 2027, supported by the French Ministry of Culture and the National Book Centre (CNL). These books include monographs on pioneer Hippolyte Bayard, analyses of the Château d'Eau collection, and histories regarding the role of collectors in the development of the medium.
