Paris Pride March announced by CGT to protest LGBTQI+ discrimination
The CGT Union in Paris has announced a Pride March scheduled for October 3, starting from Place d’Italie at 2:00 PM. The initiative aims to address ongoing inequalities and discrimination faced by LGBTQI+ individuals.
According to the union, despite legal advancements such as the 2021 opening of medically assisted procreation (AMP) to all women, significant disparities remain regarding parental rights, filiation, and workplace benefits like parental leave and mutual insurance for partners.
The CGT highlights that discrimination is prevalent in the professional sphere, noting that 32% of recorded cases involve harassment. Data indicates that 60% of LGBTQI+ individuals experiencing workplace discrimination reported it coming from colleagues, while 42% cited supervisors. The union is calling on employers to create inclusive environments and is urging the government to mandate collective bargaining and formal measures to protect these workers.
