Paris driver uses mobile app to stop Audi RS3 theft

A vehicle owner in Paris successfully prevented the theft of his Audi RS3 by using a mobile application to remotely disable the engine. After the car was stolen from the 17th arrondissement on a Friday night, the owner tracked the vehicle in real-time via his smartphone.

Using the manufacturer's app, the owner commanded the electronic management system to cut fuel injection. This caused the vehicle to lose power progressively rather than stopping abruptly, which helped avoid a high-speed accident. The car eventually came to a halt at the Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines toll plaza on the A10 motorway, where gendarmes intercepted three suspects, aged 18 and 19.

Following the incident, the seized Audi RS3 is reportedly being repurposed as a police patrol vehicle in France.
