Paris Saint-Germain to face Slovan Bratislava in Champions League opener

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is set to begin its UEFA Champions League campaign this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes against Slovan Bratislava. The match comes at a critical time for PSG, who are currently navigating a difficult start to their Ligue 1 season, including a recent 1-2 home defeat to Monaco that left them seven points behind the league leaders.

Despite the domestic struggles and a four-match winless streak, manager Luis Enrique has maintained public confidence, even suggesting a bet on PSG winning the championship. The upcoming European fixture is viewed as a vital opportunity for the squad to regain momentum and confidence.

Slovan Bratislava enters the match under challenging circumstances. The Slovakian champions have suffered two consecutive league defeats, marking their first such slump since 2017. The matchup also features a notable connection between the clubs' leadership, as Slovan is led by Yaya Touré, a former teammate of PSG manager Luis Enrique during their time at Barcelona.
