Paris: Thief steals 40,000 euros in gold coins during cafe meeting

A man stole 55 gold Napoléon coins, valued at approximately 40,000 euros, during a scheduled transaction at the Café de France in Paris's 11th arrondissement. The incident occurred on a Sunday morning around 10:00 AM.

The suspect, posing as a buyer, seized the briefcase containing the coins during a moment of inattention and fled on foot. He subsequently entered the Paris metro system on Line 5, heading toward Bobigny. The victim, who suffers from a physical disability, was unable to pursue the thief.

Investigators have utilized RATP surveillance footage to track the suspect's movements. He was last identified at 10:40 AM exiting the “Bobigny Pablo Picasso” station, after which his trail was lost. The investigation is currently being handled by the 11th arrondissement police station.
