Paris: Three staff suspended after child found alone at Trocadéro

A three-year-old child was found alone at the Trocadéro after leaving a nursery school in Paris's 16th arrondissement without supervision following extracurricular activities. The child was located safe approximately two hours after the incident and was subsequently handed over to the police.

In response to the event, the City of Paris has issued an apology to the family and announced the provisional suspension of three members of the extracurricular staff. An administrative investigation has been launched to determine responsibility and establish the circumstances of the lapse in security.

The incident has reignited debates regarding the safety and supervision of children in municipal programs. Senator Agnès Evren noted that many recommendations aimed at improving extracurricular safety have remained unapplied for a decade. This event follows previous scrutiny of the sector, including recent legal actions against staff members for misconduct.
