Parit Wacharasindhu criticizes Parliament Speaker over corruption probe handling

Parit Wacharasindhu, a deputy leader of the People's Party, has criticized Parliament Speaker Sophon Saram regarding the handling of a petition involving former Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob. The petition concerns an investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) into allegations of undisclosed assets.

Parit argued that rather than being “obsessed” with the case, as suggested by Sophon, there are legitimate concerns regarding a potential attempt to suppress the matter before it reaches the Supreme Court. He noted that while previous parliamentary leaders had processed similar matters in under 41 days, 74 days have passed in this instance without a clear resolution.

Parit raised several specific demands to ensure transparency, including the disclosure of the names of the screening committee members, the establishment of a clear timeframe for the investigation, and the inclusion of petitioners to provide information. He criticized the Speaker for appointing all committee members personally while claiming they would act independently, and for failing to provide a definitive schedule for the committee's findings.
