Park City School District students return to classes this week

Students in the Park City School District are returning to classes this week, starting Wednesday, August 19. The return of freshmen, elementary students, and middle schoolers is expected to increase traffic congestion near campuses and bus stops during morning and afternoon commutes.

Local authorities and school officials are emphasizing road safety for the upcoming school year. Drivers are reminded that under Utah law, they must stop for school buses displaying flashing red lights and an extended stop arm. On two-lane roads, traffic from both directions must stop, while on divided roadways with a physical median, oncoming traffic may not be required to stop. Additionally, reduced speed limits in posted school zones will go back into effect to protect students walking and cycling to school.
