Park Geon-roung to debut as K-pop artist Baby Shark Boy

Park Geon-roung, the child performer from the viral ‘Baby Shark Dance’ video, is transitioning to a K-pop career. Now 17 years old, he will debut under the stage name ‘Baby Shark Boy.’

The debut is supported by The Pinkfong Company, the same entity behind the original 2016 children's phenomenon, which has amassed over 17 billion views on YouTube. His first digital single, titled ‘WAVE,’ is scheduled for release on August 20. The track is a collaboration with Joohoney, a member of the K-pop group Monsta X, and Park has also contributed to the song's songwriting.

To document this transition, Pinkfong plans to release a documentary titled ‘WAVE: A Boy’s Record,’ which will explore Park's journey from a child star to a contemporary pop artist.
