Park Hae-il stars in ‘Assassins’ following four-year hiatus

Actor Park Hae-il is returning to the big screen in the film ‘Assassins’, directed by Heo Jin-ho. The movie, which marks Park's first appearance in theaters in four years, is set against the backdrop of the 1974 assassination attempt on the First Lady of South Korea.

In the film, Park portrays Jae-hwan, a social affairs editor at a newspaper. This role marks his first time playing a journalist in his 26-year career. Park noted that he felt the script was a project he had been waiting for, and he spent significant time researching the 1970s era to accurately portray the professional atmosphere and the social tensions of the period.

The production also features Lee Min-ho, who plays Young-il, a junior reporter and the brother of a chairman. Director Heo Jin-ho praised the chemistry between Park and Lee, highlighting their collaborative performance during challenging filming conditions.
