Park Ji-sung addresses Korea Football Association bribery scandal

Park Ji-sung, Chairman of the Football Innovation Committee, has addressed the ongoing scandal involving the Korea Football Association (KFA). The controversy stems from allegations that between 2011 and 2012, the KFA organized sexual solicitation services for more than 10 foreign referees.

Evidence suggests these activities were organized and approved at the level of the KFA Vice President, with expenses paid via official KFA corporate cards at massage establishments in Seoul, Changwon, and Ulsan. Following these revelations, police conducted searches and seized documents at the KFA headquarters in Cheonan and the Football Building in Jongno, Seoul.

Speaking after a committee meeting in Seoul, Park Ji-sung noted that while the sexual solicitation issue falls outside the direct jurisdiction of the Innovation Committee, the situation for national football is “extremely terrible.” He emphasized the urgent need to find ways to restore lost public trust and determine how South Korean football can move forward.
