Park Jin-young draws attention at National Assembly audit

Park Jin-young, co-chairman of the Committee on Popular Culture Exchange and producer at JYP Entertainment, drew significant attention during a National Assembly audit of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on October 7. Park appeared as a witness wearing a see-through top under a grey jacket, a departure from the typically conservative attire expected in the National Assembly.

While some observers viewed the fashion choice as a reflection of his identity as an artist, others, including People Power Party spokesperson Cho Yong-sul, criticized it as inappropriate for his official capacity as a witness.

During the hearing, Park addressed allegations regarding preferential treatment for the global K-pop festival ‘Phenomenon.’ He denied that the event serves as a political promotional tool, stating he does not work for any specific political party or administration. He further refuted claims of favoritism by noting that participating companies could generate significantly higher profits by hosting individual performances rather than a collective event.
