Park Ki-hong faces scrutiny over past discriminatory remarks
Park Ki-hong, a supreme council member of the Basic Income Party and husband of lawmaker Yong Hye-in, is facing scrutiny over past remarks. Documents obtained by MBN reveal that during his time as leader of the youth group ‘Youth Left’ in 2017, Park made several controversial comments.
According to a victim's demand for an apology, Park reportedly compared female activists to his then-partner, Yong Hye-in, suggesting they should “dress like Yong Hye-in.” The documents also include disparaging remarks about women's mental strength and academic backgrounds, such as stating that “those with low academic credentials work many part-time jobs.”
Additional controversial statements include comments made at a funeral for a farmers' activist and remarks regarding the declining influence of the Sewol ferry disaster. While Park previously resigned from his youth group position due to gender discrimination issues, former activists claim there has been a lack of sincere reflection.
