Park We faces controversy over Kenya trip claims

YouTuber Park We and his wife, Song Ji-eun, have faced online criticism regarding a past trip to Kenya. Some netizens accused the couple of receiving more assistance than they provided, claiming they went to volunteer but instead relied on locals for help navigating difficult terrain.

However, it has been clarified that the trip was a ‘vision trip’ organized by Compassion Korea, not a formal volunteer mission. Compassion Korea distinguishes vision trips—which involve visiting supported centers and families to observe local conditions—from volunteer programs. Park We had previously described the trip as a journey rather than a volunteer service, and the couple has contributed 100 million KRW through the ‘We-拉克 Walk’ campaign to fund water well drilling and hygiene education for approximately 1,500 people in Kenya.

The renewed scrutiny follows a separate controversy involving Park We, who faced backlash after posting CCTV footage of a fall involving a KTX railway worker. This incident led to a re-examination of his past content and statements.
