Parking infrastructure developments in Alba Iulia and Bucharest

In Alba Iulia, the city's first multi-story parking garage, Parkingul Arnsberg, is seeing low initial usage. Five days after its opening on October 26, data from October 31 showed that only 35 of the 127 interior spaces were occupied. Drivers continue to park near residential buildings, sometimes partially on sidewalks, despite available space in the new facility. Factors such as recent opening, low weekend traffic, and existing residential parking subscriptions may contribute to the low occupancy.

In Bucharest, the City Hall reported that the number of paid public parking spaces has more than doubled in two years, increasing from 23,312 in June 2024 to 52,195 in June 2026. While the municipality claims a 75% increase in payments, calculations suggest a discrepancy in transaction data. Comparing June 2024 to June 2026, the average number of transactions per space has shifted, with some analyses indicating a 20% decrease in transaction volume despite the reported growth in total payments and spaces.
