Parking violations in Aalborg and Aarhus
Data analyzed by Autoparts24 reveals the most frequent causes for parking fines in the Danish municipalities of Aalborg and Aarhus between January 1 and September 8, 2026.
In Aalborg, over 26,000 fines have been issued, averaging approximately 105 per day. The most common violation is stopping or parking in an intersection, accounting for 5,757 instances. This is followed by incorrect use of parking discs or exceeding time limits (5,206) and failure to provide valid payment (4,836). These three categories represent more than 60% of all fines in the municipality.
In Aarhus, 34,781 fines were issued during the same period. The primary cause is lack of valid payment (9,285), closely followed by parking in or near intersections (8,933). Together, these two violations account for over half of the total fines. Other notable violations include parking in absolute no-stopping zones (2,425), parking on sidewalks (2,294), and exceeding time limits (2,276).
In Aarhus, the Navitas parking facility at the harbor has been identified as a high-frequency area for fines, accounting for 1,656 citations. This location also recorded the highest number of complaints, with nearly 40% of those complaints resulting in the cancellation of the fine.
