Lecce secured a 3-2 victory against Monza at the Via del Mare stadium in a high-intensity Serie A match. Lassana Coulibaly was the standout performer, scoring twice, including a header from an Ivan Ilic corner and a subsequent strike following an assist from Danilo Veiga.
Tiago Gabriel added a third goal for Lecce via another corner. Monza attempted a comeback with a goal from Ricardo Mangas and a late strike from Exequiel Zeballos, which followed a mistake by Lecce goalkeeper Falcone. Despite a late offensive surge from Monza, Lecce held on to secure the three points.
Following the match, Lecce manager Eusebio Di Francesco praised his team's attitude and tactical discipline, noting that they finally showed the 'DNA of Lecce' required to compete. Conversely, Monza manager Ivan Juric expressed frustration, citing 'lightness' and a lack of clinical finishing despite creating several significant scoring opportunities.
