Parma establishes healthcare Observatory to monitor medical waiting lists

The Parma City Council has approved the Observatory for Monitoring Waiting Lists, an organism designed to connect healthcare waiting lists with local health policies. Antonio Nouvenne, representing the group Prospettiva and acting on behalf of Mayor Michele Guerra, stated that the body serves as a link between hospitals and local territory rather than a mere controller.

Data presented by the Observatory indicates that most medical services have improved beyond regional averages, though significant work remains. The Observatory plans to focus on innovation, such as teledermatology, and will open a citizen listening point at the Lubiana Community House starting October 7.

Political tensions have emerged regarding the Observatory's oversight. Marco Boschini, President of the Welfare Commission, criticized members of Forza Italia for their public criticism of waiting lists while being absent from the dedicated commission meetings, calling for greater consistency between political rhetoric and active participation in institutional dialogue.
