Parma advances youth capital bid and stadium redevelopment plans

The city of Parma is advancing several major urban and social initiatives. The municipality is preparing to become the European Youth Capital in 2027, a title awarded by the European Youth Forum. To support this, Parma has implemented the ‘Youth Test’, a governance tool to evaluate how administrative decisions impact the well-being and autonomy of younger generations.

Regarding urban infrastructure, Mayor Michele Guerra clarified that the Nuovo Tardini stadium project is ongoing rather than stalled. The project is being redesigned to allow for a phased construction process, which aims to prevent Parma Calcio from having to play matches away from the city for multiple seasons. The club is working on a new proposal that will undergo further review by the Services Conference.

Additionally, the historic Serre Petitot buildings within Parco Ducale will be opened to the public for special visits before redevelopment begins. The site is slated to eventually become the ‘Casa dell’Architettura’ (House of Architecture).
