Parnaíba expands healthcare services and specialized medical access

Healthcare services are expanding in Parnaíba, Piauí, through both hospital capacity increases and mobile medical initiatives. Hospital Marques Basto (HMB) has increased its monthly cardiac surgeries from an average of 25 last year to approximately 40. The institution also performs over 100 catheterization and angioplasty procedures monthly. Plans are underway to expand oncology services by increasing chemotherapy chairs from 12 to 30.

Additionally, the Piauí State Health Secretariat (Sesapi) is bringing specialized care to the region via the ‘Projeto AMEI’ (Atendimento Médico Especializado Itinerante). On October 17, the project will offer consultations in dermatology, urology, and gynecology at the Central de Diagnóstico in Parnaíba. This initiative aims to decentralize specialized medical assistance and reduce the need for patients to travel to larger urban centers.
