Parnaíba road project to Pedra do Sal enters final phase
Infrastructure works to improve access to Pedra do Sal Beach in Parnaíba, Piauí, are entering their final stages. The project involves a 3.92 km road connecting the Virgílio Neres Machado Bridge to the PI-116 state highway.
Executed by the State Government through the Department of Highways (DER-PI), the R$ 3.28 million investment includes 3 km of CBUQ paving and the installation of horizontal and vertical signaling. The project aims to enhance safety for drivers and pedestrians while restructuring traffic flow.
The new road is expected to serve as a vital socioeconomic corridor for the municipalities of Parnaíba and Ilha Grande. It is intended to facilitate the transport of local artisanal fish production and boost the regional tourism economy, specifically benefiting local hotels, inns, and restaurants. Completion of the paving and signaling is anticipated within the coming weeks.
