Parnamirim authorities investigate child with toy weapons at political event
A video showing a 9-year-old boy holding objects resembling firearms while dancing on a car during a political gathering in Parnamirim has triggered investigations by the Civil Police of Rio Grande do Norte and the Tutelary Council.
The child's mother reported to the Tutelary Council that the boy was under his father's care during the weekend of the event. According to council member Amanda Melo, investigations determined that the objects held by the child were actually toy weapons. The boy will be referred for psychological follow-up.
During a session at the Parnamirim City Council, Councilman Gabriel César (PL) defended the family, criticizing the media and political opponents for what he described as a manufactured narrative. He stated the objects were “toy guns” or “ball guns” and compared the situation to childhood play inspired by characters like “Rambo.” César also offered legal assistance to the child's parents.
