Parobé man sentenced to 46 years for femicide
A jury in Parobé has sentenced William Leal Correa to 46 years and eight months in prison for the femicide of his former partner. The sentencing, presided over by Judge Cléber do Amaral Schenkel, requires the defendant to serve the initial term in a closed regime.
The court also ordered a minimum reparation of R$ 70,000 for damages caused by the crime. This case marks the first trial held by the local court under Law No. 14,994/2024, which established femicide as an autonomous crime in the Penal Code, increasing penalties for such offenses.
The jury recognized several aggravating factors, including the crime being committed in front of the victim's descendants, the use of a firearm, and the violation of protective measures. Additionally, the sentence includes the loss of parental rights regarding the couple's two children. The incident occurred in October 2025, when the defendant shot the victim inside a residence.
