Parque do Ingá lake reaches 10-year high level
The lake level at Parque do Ingá in Maringá has reached 480.66 meters above sea level, marking its highest point in ten years. This level is approximately 2.66 meters above the initial reference point.
Data from the Maringá Environmental Institute (IAM) indicates that while rainfall contributed to this recovery, maintenance and operational changes implemented since 2025 were decisive factors. Key actions taken in 2026 included the implementation of partial rainwater diversion points, lowering the sill of the West diversion channel, and performing cleaning, desilting, and channel unclogging services.
Monitoring shows a significant difference in efficiency compared to 2025. Despite receiving 800 mm of rain between September and December 2025, the lake reached one of its lowest levels at 478.02 meters. In contrast, despite receiving only 430 mm of rain between July and September 2026, the lake reached the spillway level of 480.66 meters.
