Parque Museo La Venta to reopen in Tabasco on October 26
The Parque Museo La Venta in Tabasco is scheduled to reopen on October 26 following a comprehensive rehabilitation project. Announced by Governor Javier May Rodríguez, the renovation was completed with an investment of approximately 36.5 million pesos through the Secretariat of Territorial Planning and Public Works (SOTOP).
The project focused on upgrading hydraulic, sanitary, and electrical systems, including new drainage and potable water infrastructure. Significant improvements were made to animal shelters for species such as monkeys, jaguars, deer, turtles, and lizards, featuring new protective mesh, containment structures, and day and night housing to ensure animal welfare.
Visitor facilities have also been renovated, including the ticket office, information module, visitor center palapa, public restrooms, and a didactic room. The rehabilitation aimed to preserve the site's historical identity as a meeting point for natural wealth and Olmec cultural heritage, which includes original Olmec pieces such as colossal heads and altars.
